Mika Bankomat works on the edge of unprofessionalism. 2019 she graduated with honors from the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. Since 2020 she lives and works in Linz, as artist, musician, questioner, professional troublemaker, barkeeper, booker, distortion and organizer of events.
In her conceptual works, the discussion of socio-political structures is transferred to concrete places, materials and physical phenomena. Her sonic approaches to sound structures test them for their political impact. She is active in various groups with a musical focus on disharmony, anti-music, noise and confusion.
In the collectives F.I.S.T. (Feminist Intersectional Society Terror) and Meduxa Collective (FLINTA* DJ collective), she works critically questioning the city‘s structures.
In her sound performances, she works with self-made instruments, field recordings, places, gestures, movements, postures and the self-resonance of materials. Through audiovisual, performative and sculptural translations, she investigates moments of failure, irritation, touch, as well as breaking points and the collapse of systems. In each performance and exhibition, she reacts specifically to the context of the location.

Mika Bankomat arbeitet an der Grenze zur Unprofessionalität. 2019 absolvierte sie mit Auszeichnung die Akademie der Bildenden Künste in München. Seit 2020 ist ihr Arbeits- und
Lebensmittelpunkt Linz, wo sie als Künstlerin, Musikerin, Infragestellerin, professional troublemaker, Barkeeperin, Bookerin, Distortion und Veranstalterin tätig ist.
In ihren konzeptuellen Arbeiten wird die Erörterung gesellschaftspolitischer Strukturen übertragen auf konkrete Orte, Materialien und physikalische Phänomene. Ihre auditiven Annäherungen an Soundstrukturen prüfen diese auf ihre politische Schlagkraft. Dabei ist sie mit einem musikalischen Fokus auf Disharmonie, Antimusik, Noise und Verwirrung in verschiedenen Gruppierungen aktiv.
In den Kollektiven F.I.S.T. (Feminist Intersectional Society Terror) und Meduxa Collective (FLINTA* DJ Kollektiv) arbeitet sie kritisch fragend gegen die verhärteten Strukturen der Stadt an. In ihren Soundperformances arbeitet sie mit selbstgebauten Instrumenten, Field Recordings, Orten, Gesten, Bewegungsabläufen, Haltungen und der Eigenresonanz von Materialien. Durch audiovisuelle, performative und skulpturale Übersetzungen untersucht sie Momente des Scheiterns, der Irritation, der Berührung sowie Bruchstellen und den Kollaps von Systemen. Dabei reagiert sie bei jedem Auftritt und jeder Ausstellung gezielt auf den Kontext des Ortes.
